I am lack of time and funds to go and find a teacher, so I decided to go “online”. But does these lessons really help? I have not started yet, but I would like to know if I can learn dancing by myself since dancing is like learning the piano, you need guidance to do it right. And if possible, can you provide some links to some really good self learning websites? I would like to learn from sites that are proven to help people like me learn dancing by myself.

Jazz, maybe.
Contemporary, MAYbe.
Ballet, no. Never. That would be death.
Tap, no way.
Hip-Hop, yes.
Square-dancing, I’m positive.
It’d probably be possible, but not recommended. Without feedback, or someone telling you whats right and wrong, its very easy to get it wrong or even injure yourself. Theres little things which you might not be able to feel yourself that are really obvious to see. I’d advise checking out your local dance schools.
If you just want to learn some tricks you can look up tutorial videos. However if you really want to develop technique and performance quality you really need to go to class with a teacher and other students that you can watch and who will push and motivate you. Also it funds are low, some community colleges have dance classes that are pretty cheap.
no, thats not really possible. a person has to work really hard at class to learn to dance gracefully and beautifully, something you can’t really get by yourself. you need a teacher to correct you on where you are wrong and you need the space a studio permits you. yeah, it might be fun to do class in your own home, but if you want to really learn something and improve then that will in no way shape or form help you.
personally, i don’t think online classes would help to learn to dance, but it might help teach you some of the basics. you won’t have a teacher to correct your mistakes, though. its definitely better to learn dance firsthand but if you cant, online is probably an okay thing.
maybe, but you really need a teacher to tell you if your doing things right or wrong and to give you tips and advice.
